At our last meeting we talked about some people (local & other) who aren't into the whole reunion thing.
As I thought back at my 13 years in school and the 30 years out of school, (yeah I choked on that too!) I realized that even if I didn't, or haven't had a relationship with you, our lives probably have that 2% of seperation that seems to be so true. My son is going to UB (Buffalo) and through simple chance is roommates with Trevor Laughlin's son Matt. As JoEllen (miss ya girl!) pointed out Darrly was just around the corner and she didn't even know it.
It's been great being able to start extra early (Thanks Fred) with the web-site but I still look forward to connecting and reconnecting with all who attend.

Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow...
A bit gloomy but this popped into my head today while having a discussion about the 'time dilation effect of aging'.
a quicker year again my way
tomorrow shorter still, I'll say
reminiscing fewer pasts
within the earth I soon shall lay

Well it is hard to believe it has been 30 years....yikes, This website has proved to be a wonderful tool (thank you, thank you Fred for creating this). It has allowed for us to connect, near or far, share stories and update each other on our lives. We have all changed in some way or another, but that doesn't matter....what matters is that we take from this cherish old memories, new memories and the fact that we have been able to reconnect with people like it was yesterday. I know I have truly enjoyed our local meetings, the emails from those across the miles and cannot wait until reunion weekend. Get the party started!

I'm really looking forward to coming back, seeing old friends and showing my family my home town. I'm one of those people who never came back for a reunion but there's no escaping your roots. I agree with Mary that we should do the "Fifty Nifty" song which I sing now to my girls. Someone should also recite Stopping By A Woods on a Snowy Evening that Mr. Colby made us all memorize in 8th grade. I can't believe I still remember all the words. Thanks to all you locals who are putting this together. You're doing a great job!!! See you all soon.

Donna,
Funny you should mention that David Frost poem. I also still know all the words. Scary. Anyone remember the dark room that we built in the back of one of the classrooms for Mr. Colby's photography club?

I too have that poem engraved in my brain. I recite it a couple of times a year.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers that poem. Yes Mark I do remember the dark room we built and also our camera club hikes, especially those fun weekend camping trips at Allegheny State Park. Remember Mr. Colby bringing along whiskey for "medicinal" purposes?:)

Add me to the list of those who still remembers that poem. I think that many years ago I recited it to my kids and told them that I learned that in 8th grade. Now they think that I am even stranger for remembering such a thing.

I remember that poem as well. Some times as I am talking with my kids about what we had (and did not have) when we were growing up in Westfield, they think it was the Dark Ages.
Since my folks retired in 1990 and moved to Erie, for the reunion weekend I will be staying in their RV down
at the KOA. Anyone else going to be there?

Flying into Cleveland Friday before and staying down at Forrest Park for the week
OK, on that Poem. In some grade I had to come up with a rhyme but with new words. So mine was
"Who's grapes these are I think I know
his house is in the village though
He will not see me stopping here
to rip his grapes clean off the vine"
I think anyone who has grown up in Westfield was guilty of doing this while riding their bike on some back road!

Ya that was the nice thing to do with the grapes, Some people used to throw them at cars. I don't know who would do such a thing! I was always such a nice kid myself.

I hope everyone has a great time this weekend. I do wish I could be there with you. This has been a lot of fun seeing pictures of some of you and learning about your lives. I will get around to updating my profile soon. Please take lots of pictures at the reunion and post them for all of us that can't be there. Know that my thoughts and prayers are there with you.
(Look for my brother Al and his wife Pat, they always go back for the reunions.)

Due to circumstances that only I control, I wont' be able to get there. You would not beleive how much I have been looking forward to this reunion, and how much of a let down that it is that I can't get there. Sometimes you live life and sometimes life lives you. I will be making arrangements to get home later this year I haven't been back in a long time. I would like to maybe organize a get together with everyone who is there and has spent so much time putting this reunion together!
I hope everyone has a great time! Be safe and watch out for each other, no more incidents like Senior skip day!! lol...

To All,
Monday morning I turned on one of those espn channels and the subject was Camiski park and the disco demolition that took place there. And in what year? Of course 1979. What a way to end a fantastic weekend.

It is hard to believe that the reunion has now been behind us for nearly seven weeks. It seems such a long time ago already, and yet, where did 30 years go?
I go under the knife in Cleveland in Sept. (date not yet specific) to have a breast cyst removed. The surgeon says 90% benign, 10% malignant, so I am hopeful! Will have minor back surgery sometime in Sept. also, to ablate the nerves by the cracks in my vertebrae.
Whose woods these are.....
.......and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep!
Hope to see as many of you as possible next summer at the picnic in Forest Park! It was SO great to see all who I did this year. This site is so awesome as a way to keep in touch before another 30 years passes us by!
Love Ya' All!
Karen

I'm suprised at the connection that continue even after the reunion. Lou (Buddy) is my neighbor once again. Okay it's on Farmville but it's still like old times. I found Bernadette on Facebook too. So next year I hope we can continue to build on what we have begun. It really has meant a lot to me.

What's amazing to me is how few posts there are here now. Since the reunion is over, coming here feels sort of like walking through a cemetary...alone with only your memories to accompany you.
I think we need to start thinking up some things (though on a MUCH smaller scale, of course) for summer of 2010! I'd love some kind of get-together in a relaxed atmosphere with just our class. This way we could visit more.
Last year was crowded and noisy at Zebro's, Eason Hall, and the Ox Roast. How about a simple picnic that ends with an evening bon fire?
Miss all you guys!
Karen
